“Two years ago my wife committed suicide. Watching this play has helped me understand some of the things that might have been going on for her. And in my family too, about trauma and habit.” - Audience Member
My Brain Is Plastic by Arlin McFarlane is a coming of age story about a girl, her troubles, and hope. This one-woman show uses the lens of neuroscience to help us realize that we all have the capacity to re-wire our brain, and thus change our habits, because of our incredibly plastic brain. This show ran as a part of the 2016 Magnetic North Theatre Festival June 14 to 18. To go to the show's website, click here!

THE PROJECT
Arlin's interest in how a girl comes to know her father was informed particularly by Norman Doidge’s first book, The Brain That Changes Itself. The audience views the story through several lenses provided by the characters on stage, a live camera feed, sourced imagery and original music. The story has grown and developed over the past five years in collaboration with Marten Berkman, Erin Corbett, and Jordy Walker. Arlin values the encouragement and curiosity she's received from the community that has resulted in this story of a girl, her troubles, and her hopes.
